Our Hero's is a 1 to 1 mentoring program that uses evidence-based strategies to match referred Tacoma youth ages 12-24 to a same gendered volunteer. The mentoring relationship will last for 1 year and will be monitored by program staff. Mentors are trained through a partnership with Mentor Management Systems and have the ability to participate in multiple trainings throughout the year as well as participate in monthly structured events for mentor and mentee.

Youth are typically referred to our program by school counselors/social works, parole officers, courts, and concerned parents/guardians/family.   The Our Hero program requires a one-year commitment from youth where they will attend monthly events and weekly check ins with their mentors.   If you know a youth who may benefit from our program, you may complete the youth referral form below.

What Does It Take to Be a Mentor? 

1. Be willing to connect with your youth once a week. 
2.  Be willing to meet with your youth twice a month. 
3.  Be willing to commit to a yearlong program.  
4. Be willing to complete the enrollment process
